Things I'm Currently In Love With:
Juggling appointments, errands and other similar mom duties today, before I run out the door I have a moment for a quick blog post.
I will admit to a minor obsession with aprons, of the non frumpy variety. So when I stumbled across these cuties at Anthropolgie.com for $28-32.00 I fell in love. I just had to share them with everyone.
I bought one last night and I struggled to not buy 3-4, though I admit I may still...
Another really cute recent find on Etsy (Oh how I love Etsy):
I collect linocut and woodblock prints so when you add aprons, tea towels and a lobster to the mix, I'm giggling with glee. Check out printer Lisa Price's creations here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/artgoodies
Full disclosure: I'm not associated with these sellers nor receiving any compensation for posting them. I just loved these finds and wanted to share with everyone.

Too funny you posted today. I just got all 4 of my "junior chefs" aprons from IKEA today. Can't beat $2.99 each either.
ReplyDeleteOh I've seen those aprons before! Love how they look like dresses :) Which is what I totally thought they were at first
ReplyDeleteI've never met you, but those aprons seem totally your style...
ReplyDelete… my fioncee could have died for Anthropologie! if there wasn't a thing called money..
ReplyDeleteI got that Antrhopologie apron on the bottom for Christmas! (when in doubt, I'm given Antrhopologie for all gift-giving events). I love it!!
ReplyDeleteAre you sure you're not my daughter (A year With Chickens) Robin??? She has this same crazy love for aprons!
ReplyDeleteThey are fabulous! But I would be too afraid to get them dirty in the kitchen since they are so cute!
ReplyDeleteCrystal,
ReplyDeleteI have that Ikea apron too, for the little Humble! It comes down to her ankles right now but I figure she'll grow into it.
Ikea is great, especially when you need a large collection of dishes to stage food for photographs.
I love aprons too! I thought I was the only one w/that weird obsession. My favorite one is a retro 'feista' pattern I got from a store called April Cornell...I think it went out of business, or at least the one in Georgetown did...but I have about 6 aprons, all different shapes, lengths and patterns. But that cupcake one is calling my name.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I go to Anthropologie, I want to just pitch a tent in the corner and live there. Their website is a guaranteed loss of two hours of my life. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteMelanie,
ReplyDeleteYea, these are too pretty to wear while handling really messy food.
For example I wouldn't dare make a batch of red velvet cupcakes while wearing a nice apron. My working aprons are standard four-way aprons, since they are thick enough to protect my clothing and I can bleach out any stains.
Still, there are those times where you just want to feel pretty while baking...
I love the polka dot one!!! Of course I have an unhealthy obsession with polka dots...
ReplyDeleteOh gosh those are soooo cute!! :) I feel the same way about camera straps. I found some SUPER CUTE ones on Etsy (love that place too, but I can get in trouble over there! : ) and had to buy two. And I could've totally bought more! : )
ReplyDeleteOccassionaly I see a post that takes me back in time. Aprons remind me of my mom who used to make her own aprons with a matching little girl sized one for me many years ago.
ReplyDeleteI have been obsessed with the practicality and cutness of the ones they make now. Have to say, I love the polka dot one! Thanks for stirring up a memory.
I've been meaning to make myself a heavy duty apron for a couple years now. Something ankle length, to keep flour off my pants. It's amazing how much flour and other stuff can accidentally get on your pants (and only the nice ones mind) when you're baking bread
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with the aprons. And I hardly even cook. But why not look fabulous while you do?
ReplyDeleteI'd much enjoy them more if they were dresses...so cute, I just want to wear them out in public!
ReplyDeleteAnthropologie- that store is my weakness. Would you believe almost exactly one year ago (to the day!) I posted about an apron I got at Anthro?! http://food-ology.blogspot.com/2009/02/birthday-post-1-kitchen-gadgets.html
ReplyDeleteAlthough since then I've never found one I've liked as much as my original (that goodness to my bank account). But the ones you posted- I could buy them all. Especially the second one. Hmmmm, I'll have to keep my eyes posted when I go and use my 15% birthday month coupon. Dangerous- what have you done to me?!
Have you seen this post before? As if there wasn't enough cool stuff on etsy. http://indiefindsonetsy.blogspot.com/2008/06/aprons-on-etsy.html Boojiboos apron's have that old-school look to them that I love.
Jackie
I love aprons too, and make them. My mom used to make dozens for the church bazaar in the 60's. The ones you've posted look like they're made out of very light weight material - is that so?
ReplyDeleteHow lovely!
ReplyDeleteI thought the first one was a skirt....they are all beautiful!
happy fashion week to kitchens everywhere ;)
ReplyDeleteKathy,
ReplyDeleteNot too sure. I haven't gotten mine yet (it actually isn't among the ones I posted), so I can't comment on the thickness. I'm going to assume though that they are not very thick or practical for real kitchen dirty work.
These are really just hostess-style aprons and meant for less messy baking projects.
Those aprons are so adorable. If I had one I'm not sure I'd be able to bring myself to wear it when doing real cooking... I'd be scared of making a mess! But nevertheless, I'd love them all!
ReplyDeleteI'd seen these before and had to go searching through my cache to find the website. Gourmand Apron Creations - make sure to check out the "Coordinated Aprons", which offer adult and child versions of some of the aprons!
ReplyDeleteThe baking fashionista! Lovely aprons, tempted to get some for myself
